Wood Tech Room Reflection - March 15th

Today I finished off my wooden box.
First I nailed the base onto the frame as a bottom for the wooden box.
After that I cut off any bits of the base that were hanging over the box.
Finally, to complete it I sanded the whole project as a finishing touch

Physical Education Reflection

This week I have been involved in a few physical activities.

This Tuesday I participated in the Athletics day. I signed up for almost all of the events and got a 1st place in the 400 meter run.

I also got a 1st place in the shot put.

Other than athletics I have been doing pre rugby season training with my brother and doing certain drills using cones with him.

I have also been training with my best friend who is like a brother to me.

We have been doing press ups and building our muscles so we can carry our girlfriends around when we go to the Makauri school gala this sunday.

Another thing to add is I do 50 press ups every morning so I think I've been pretty active this week.

Impact Project Reflection

My favourite school day is friday because I get to get creative with my impact project.

The impact project Im doing at the moment is Whakairo carvings, which I enjoy because I've always wanted to learn how to do wood carvings. Its also my favourite impact project so far.

Heres my reflection for my impact project from last week

The first thing I learnt was a karakia Koka Ori taught the class.
The karakia is for thanking Tangaroa for the fish we are taking from the ocean.

Other than that I've been doing carving for the rest of the day.
The first time I held a chissel and a mallet was 8:30 in the morning when I came to school early.
Later on in my free time during the day such as morning tea and lunch I would go to Matatoa's shed and help Matua Simon with carving the Waharoa.

Most of the time I was taking out some big chunks of wood from the carvings or carving smooth curvs into part of the Waharoa
I'm still learning the basics of carving.
Matua Simon (Simon Lardelli) has been kind enough to teach me the basics and how to hold a chissel and a mallet properly.

My Best Learning This Year

Jack Gifford
This is my favourite piece of work so far for this year.

This is a piece of artwork I did in the Maths & Nature class.
I created this piece of artwork by drawing shapes and colouring them in with water colour pencils,
this gives it a geometrical sort of movement in my piece of artwork.
Incase you have'nt noticed, this is a piece of artwork of some sort of snake created from triangular shapes to give it a geometrical look.
